At Mainstream Fiber Networks, we believe that access to high-speed internet is just the beginning. True digital inclusion means equipping our communities with the knowledge to confidently navigate the online world. That’s why we recently partnered with the Community Foundation of Crawford County to present Digital Literacy 101 — a hands-on workshop designed to help residents make the most of their connected homes.

Empowering Residents Through Education

Held in the heart of Crawford County, this free community event covered the essentials of using Smart TVs, streaming services, and staying secure on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram. Our team walked participants through setting up and troubleshooting Smart TV connections using either Wi-Fi or Ethernet — emphasizing how a reliable fiber internet connection makes streaming smoother and more secure.

With clear, step-by-step guidance, attendees learned how to install apps, set up user accounts for services like Netflix and YouTube, and even apply parental controls. The session also highlighted the importance of online safety: creating strong passwords, enabling two-factor authentication, and spotting potential scams on social media.

Why Digital Literacy Matters — and Why Fiber Makes the Difference

Mainstream Fiber is committed to closing the digital divide in Indiana’s rural communities. Events like Digital Literacy 101 go hand-in-hand with our mission to deliver affordable, high-speed fiber internet that powers everything from remote learning and telehealth to streaming and smart home technology.

By combining reliable fiber infrastructure with educational outreach, we’re not just connecting homes — we’re building confidence in how people use the internet every day.
